TECMA, Inc. is a family-owned and founded contract precision machine shop servicing the Aerospace and Defense industry since 1957.
Sonia grew up working side-by-side with her father, after completing her undergraduate- and Master’s Degree in Communications at CSU, Sacramento and Sonia split her time between Office Manager duties at TECMA and assisting her mother.
The choice to continue the business after her father’s accident was easy, Sonia pulled in all her resources, including rehiring trusted retired employees and consulting with her father’s friends in the industry. With these resources, combined with organizational skills learned from event planning and the business sense she learned from her father, Sonia has revived TECMA into a fresh, thriving, growing firm.
With the help of a Bill Teeple at SBDC, TECMA is now registered as a Small Business, Women Owned Small Business and is HUBZone certified, making TECMA a triple-bonus to Government contractors. Sonia’s vision and goal for the future include establishing an Apprentice Machinist Program, internships, classroom visits and fieldtrips, and other work-based learning opportunities for young boys and GIRLS so they don’t have to wait for a tragedy to find their life’s passion.
